ADE 2019: MusicTalks with Joris Voorn

MusicTalks was conceived as part of ADE SoundLab 2019, as ADE’s wish was to give the thousands of people who come to the city for ADE Festival related and relevant things to do in the daytime. The biggest names in town for ADE get to meet and take questions from their fans in a convivial setting. ADE MusicTalks 2019 was held at the Brakke Grond and Compagnietheater during ADE Sound Lab.

Amsterdam's hometown hero Joris Voorn has been a stalwart of the Dutch techno scene in the past 20 years. He's made connections to fabric, Cocoon, FUSE and all kinds of other global underground institutions, won the approval of Derrick May, Carl Craig, Sven Väth, Pete Tong and dozens of other heroes. But he's never lost his hunger for innovation, and delight in the sheer power of sound. And that applies off the dancefloor just as much as on it – his records, and especially his albums, have provided ever more detail and depth for home listeners and headphone voyagers as much as they deliver soundsystem punch. So it was fascinating to hear from him about the thought and technical processes that have led him to the sonic space of his album //// [Four]. This Music Talk is a great insight into the industry and culture which he's been immersed in all of this time and along the way too.
