See how club culture was celebrated at The Ballantine’s House

Since electronic music’s inception, nightclubs have played a seminal role in the culture that surrounds it. In fact: without them electronic music would likely never have grown this big in the first place. Together with our partner Ballantine’s, we payed homage to this cultural catalyst in conjunction with a cross-continental selection of spearheads from The Gärten, Output, Nitsa and Sub Club as part of the Scotch whisky’s True Music platform.

The Ballantine’s House played host to conversations between established pioneers and a new generation of innovators, as it showcased the values that make nightlife communities so special and successful: diversity, community spirit, and an openness to all. Together, we celebrated the long-lasting cultural institutions that these club families have become, and how they inspire the future through talks, music and panel discussions featuring representatives from the aforementioned clubs. The discussion was streamed live on Facebook, and can be viewed in full right here. Additionally, there was a Q&A with TrouwAmsterdam’s former creative director Kim Tuin, who now runs cultural hub Het HEM.

The evening also featured the premiere of the documentary ‘Communities behind the Dancefloor’, which delves into the history and background of the four clubs with never-before-seen footage and exclusive interviews. You can see it in its entirety here.

DJ sets by Harri and Domenic, who run the world’s longest weekly residency at Sub Club closed out the evening, and rising star Shanti Celeste the day.
