Pioneer DJ built its own gear haven at this year's ADE Sound Lab

Friday, 08 November 2019
The brand was back at ADE Sound Lab 2019 in full force, showcasing their full product range, DJ sets and a documentary screening.

Taking residency at De Brakke Grond, Pioneer DJ opened its own Playground at ADE Sound Lab, where visitors could hear exclusive live sets that were dropped by international talent including Cassy, DJ Sneak, Kristen Knight, Marco Faraone and Roger Sanchez. The latter took the opportunity to show a captive audience how he uses the DJS-1000, to make a track before rolling out a set solely using two of the stand-alone DJ samplers.

People also had the chance to tinker with Pioneer’s latest gear, like the TORAIZ range of instruments which was showcased throughout the week, or the DDJ-200, a DJ controller that enables users to mix music from Spotify Premium, Beatport LINK or SoundCloud Go+ via your smartphone. Additionally, there were also demonstrations of new VR tech designed exclusively for DJs.

The brand also showed a new documentary film, following up on their earlier success “Why We DJ – Slaves to the Rhythm”, which shone a light on the enormous strain that touring can put on artists. This new production, “INSTA DJ – Social Media and the New Age Dancefloor” investigates the effects – both positive and negative – that the constant spotlight of social media can have on DJs, artists and the whole electronic music scene. This issue was also explored in a panel discussion on mental health, hosted to discuss topics raised in the documentary. You can watch the full documentary below.
