Getting to the unusual or exquisite places in the midst of ADE is not always easy with a program consisting of more than 200 locations and 2.500 artists. Therefore our team has created several routes trough the different districts of Amsterdam, which will give you an idea of what to expect and where.
Southeast

Following up on our guide through the Eastern, Northern, Western and Centre part of Amsterdam we'd like to highlight various must-visits located in the Southeast part of Amsterdam.

Following up on our guide through the Eastern, Northern, Western and Centre part of Amsterdam we'd like to highlight various must-visits located in the Southeast part of Amsterdam.

This year's ADE features almost 200 venues - all spread across Amsterdam - playing host to different festival and conference events throughout the week. Today we will take you to the Southeast of the city, which hosts the largest nighttime venues and contributes to many daytime activities.

Amsterdam's Big Rooms Johan Cruijf ArenA, AFAS Live and Ziggo Dome

Start by taking the train or subway to Station Bijlmer ArenA to visit the Johan Cruijff ArenA, home of the football club AFC Ajax. It will house the annual one-night event AMF in their impressive stadium with among other things the crowning of the DJ Mag Top 100 winner. Expect performances by Alesso, Armin van Buuren, Tiësto and the new Two Is One consisting of Timmy Trumpet and W&W.

Across from the ArenA you will find AFAS Live, a concert hall that has hosted many plenty of greats throughout the years. New Order, the legendary new wave band, is set to play a unique live show on ADE Thursday. Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano return to their home base with a three-hour live set on Friday. If you are more into beats and Dutch hip-hop, Meisjes Blijven Meisjes will debut at the venue with the likes of Afrolosjes Soundsystem, Bizzey and Frenna.

On the opposite side of the ArenA is where you can find the Ziggo Dome, an indoor arena and the fifth busiest concert venue in the world. On Thursday and Friday the location will be completely taken over by Tomorrowland presents OUR STORY – Celebrating 15 Years of the festival with the likes of Afrojack, Steve Aoki, Metropole Orkest and many more artists.

Art, Fetish and Games
Head east from the ArenA and close to the Nelson Mandelapark you will find CBK Zuidoost, a center for contemporary art. They exhibit art from artists that have a strong connection with the area. During ADE CBK Zuidoost features the exhibition Mental!, which showcases how (popular) music has been dominated internationally by black music for years. Nowadays Dutch hip-hop artists, inspired by the African diaspora, are headlining the local charts, but meanwhile, mainstream media keep these performers at bay. The artists shown at the exhibition each present their own take on this subject. Do join the closing event where you are up for an artist talk & bodypaint performance by AiRich, bridging pop culture and science fiction.

If you go south from the ArenA, within a ten-minute walk you will stumble on JACK Amsterdam. The venue offers a blend of house and techno and their line-up stars plenty of local artists and talent. Innerverse is collaborating with JACK for a set of five events that feature a different label each night. Check out NICEPEOPLE on ADE Friday for example, where you can find Orlando Voorn and label honcho Giuseppe Scarano perform alongside Chicago legend Paul Johnson, and Nico Lachs among others. In addition JACK dares you to be different or yourself and dressed however you desire, as they present Let's JACK on ADE Saturday, an evening with a focus on fetish and diversity. The night will be curated by Adriana Lopez, Fire Between Us, Solid Blake and more.

Just around the corner, you can find Lola Bae, a venue is a gathering place for entrepreneurs, artists, and social initiatives. It's also a meeting point for different cultures and art disciplines to come together in an informal and open space. You can visit the temporary venue for the Els Jamsession, among others.

Take the subway from Bijlmer ArenA to Ganzenhoef and head to OSCAM, an open space for contemporary art and crossovers that functions as a museum. On ADE Saturday OSCAM presents Ye Bo Game. The Stop Games edition in collaboration with Ye Bo Game is an evening where gamers, artists, and DJs can play (video)games and connect, and are musically focused on R&B, Hip-hop and Afrobeats provided by DJ's BLK BLNDR and DJ Atti.
