Canadian composer and sound artist Tim Hecker collaborated with members of the gagaku ensemble Tokyo Gakuso during several trips to Japan. Gagaku music is the imperial court soundtrack of the country; a mix of coiling flute melodies, drums, strings and a 17-pipe horn called the shō. For the live installment of Konoyo at Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ, Hecker takes these instruments and the spiritual sounds they produce to create sonic landscapes that are recognizable for this experimental ambient music.

For Time-Blind, Italian composer Caterina Barbieri and AV artist Ruben Spini will form a symbiosis that is as sonically complex as it’s visually. Barbieri uses sequencing techniques to derive spellbinding songs from her modular instruments, pushing them to full capacity, sketching deep-diving electro-acoustic panoramas. Live it’s a true experience to feel, hear and see how she mastered her monophonic instruments, using them to create songs in the classic structure as we know it, yet producing them in immersive ways.
