X.L.F.

X.L.F (Xiao Linfeng), Beijing’s pinnacle producer, DJ, and recording artist, is most recognized for his diverse range of electronic music styles. Known for his synthesizer programming and rhythmic grooves, his selective sound has continually evolved over the years. Effused from progressive trance, acid house, tech-house, and minimal techno, X.L.F ’s music has reached beyond states of classification today.

As a DJ, X.L.F creates a “sense of audio history”, and is skilled in the art of harmonizing colliding genres; from warm funk to psychedelic acid, violent Techno to abstract Cologne “academism”; each one of his sets is a unique tale of intrigue.

Xiao reached his next major career landmark in 2005 when he signed a contract with the Chinese Phonograph Record Corporation, joining China’s one and only commercial music trade mark label. That same year he helped produce the first electronic dance music record in China. Its commercial success broke into the European and American market, leading to a 2nd special edition release.

2007 marked a watershed moment for X.L.F as he began to embrace the German minimal techno sound. It was also the year he co-founded Acupuncture Records, China’s independent electronic music label. The original group made up of 8 DJs was cultivated during private sessions at X.L.F.’s recording studio on the outskirts of Beijing.

In 2010, two EPs Cut Off/Jazz Bzzz and 9am At Juer were released under his own label.

我通过minimal⾳音乐(极简⻛风格的电⼦子乐)找到了了属于⾃自⼰己的Groove,这对⼀一个DJ⽽而⾔言,就像作家找到⾃自⼰己的叙事语感。这是个鲜明的性格标签,有了了 这个标签,放⾳音乐的感觉就成了了“客随主便便”。把握⾳音乐律律动,通过我的⽅方式让欣赏⾳音乐的⼈人们感受我的情感,不不刻意的讨好听众。然⽽而他们的沉醉在开始的 时候让我有些意外,同时,也让我鉴定了了我的⾳音乐路路线的信⼼心。

Minimal⾳音乐的⼀一个重要标志,是它改变了了传统意义上听者的舞蹈动作,可以将舞者的身体律律动缩⼩小到⼀一个最低限度,轻轻动⼏几下⼿手指,眨眨眼,就能解 决猛烈烈如techno、欢快如house所带来的⼀一切快感。可以完全的疯掉,可以冷静的⼊入神。这⼤大概和我的个性有些关系。所以,在悠扬的旋律律和细微的⾳音⾊色之 间,我选择了了后者。⼀一点点的渐⼊入佳境,这也是我的⼈人⽣生态度:不不想⼀一次性透⽀支快乐。
如果不不⾛走旋律律路路线,也不不强调狠击的⼒力力度,就要寻找⼀一个合适的状态。⽐比如哪些⾳音⾊色可以让⼈人愉快,哪些让⼈人兴奋,哪些让⼈人迷幻,这都是我在思考的 问题。这需要⼀一种新的理理解和诠释。说得更更具体⼀一些,就是如何在mix的过程中,把⼀一堆来路路不不明的⾳音⾊色突然理理清,⿊黑⽩白分明。把故意培养的压抑情绪,在 合适的点位突然释放。

我在准备⼀一段set的时候,常常希望⽣生产催眠的效果。让舞者体会错落有致的打击乐器器、规律律且⽴立体感⼗十⾜足的⻉贝斯,以引领他们进⼊入⼀一个滴⽔水的⼭山洞洞,让 他们在⿊黑暗中期待⼀一个希望。两个⼩小时⾥里里,其实是⼀一段内⼼心读⽩白,是⼀一个充满幻想的故事。如何⽤用minimal⾳音乐讲好这个故事是我每次放⾳音乐前要做的功 课。压制与释放,控制与反应。

当我发现舞池⾥里里的朋友们在等待⾼高潮,就是⾏行行话⾥里里的“起”。那是我最开⼼心的时候。我会⽤用出其不不意的⽅方式让他们获得快感,这是我最希望得到的效果。 让⼀一堆⽩白天⾥里里疲于奔命的⼯工作狂,到了了夜⾥里里,在经历了了⼀一段刻意安排的“挣扎”之后,感受向他们砸来的铺天盖地的幸福......这就是我的⼯工作。

我喜欢平凡⽣生活中的各种细节,丰富丰满⽽而幸福。⽐比如我家⻔门前的⼀一只总也睡不不醒的⽼老老猫,万花筒⾥里里最扎眼的颜⾊色,唐卡⾥里里神圣的图案......在电⼦子⾳音乐 ⾥里里,我会注意类似精巧的⽔水滴声、轻脆的打击声,持续但有节制的轻触式单⾳音,⾦金金属质感的波浪的递进与降落,在整体上呈现出逻辑性和内敛精确的情感。 我不不会指望,有⼈人在五分钟内进⼊入我的Groove,我喜欢⼈人们在我的⾳音乐中细细品味与想象,共同进⼊入那个奇幻的世界。

我喜欢Kollektiv Turmstrasse的作品,带有相对迷蒙的状态,也有轻快和顽⽪皮。记得我第⼀一次放《Grillen Im Park》这⾸首单曲时,朋友告诉我他哭了了,那 感觉就像苦尽⽢甘来的往事回味。
