2013 has been a watershed year for the London-born, Berlin-based artist, raising her profile like never before. After being taken under the wing of Loco Dice, Anthea appeared again and again on the lineup of his infamous Used + Abused parties throughout the Ibizan summer. She then topped off a stellar season on the white isle with a crowning highlight, joining Carl Craig and Nina Kraviz for the Carl Cox curated 'The Party Unites' event at Space. With further 2013 appearances at the inaugural Off:Wax Sonar event in Barcelona alongside Radio Slave and Tobi Neumann, at Phonica's 10th birthday takeover of London's Fabric club, an invite from Japan's Air club and a monthly residency at essential Berlin spot Club der Visionaere, all the signs indicate that Anthea is a star in the ascendant.
Anthea has been honing her tastemaker ear for 15 years. While a behind-the-counter fixture at Flying Records and Phonica Records, she worked tirelessly as one of London's most in-demand female DJs. After landing coveted podcasts slots for Ibiza Voice and Get The Curse, she fielded invites from Watergate in Berlin, Batofar in Paris, Harry Klein in Munich, Underground in Ibiza, and Gipsy in Moscow.
Anthea's signature DJ style - whether deep or upfront - is dynamic and layered, rhythmic and focused on groove, and it's informed her productions and remixes, landing her amongst the label likes of Freak ‘n Chic, Phonica, All Inn, One Records, Desolat and air london. Her collaborations have produced notable studio chemistry: "Option One" with Guti became a bona fide breakou hit, “The Playmaker” with Alex Celler has held its position as one of Resident Advisor's Top 40 tracks of all time, she's partnered with Werner Niedermeier as deep duo JC Freaks, and a recent pairing had her in the studio beside Brouquade partner-in-crime Dana Ruh.
With an emphasis on creating and not imitating, and with her boundless energy and personal warmth, Anthea has laid solid foundations in 2013, and beyond that there lies nothing but an inspired future.
