CNTRL: Beyond EDM is a panel conceptualized by Richie Hawtin and Loco Dice to discuss what happens now for techno(logy)-based music in North America. Both Hawtin and Dice are launching a music and technology tour of Canadian and U.S. colleges, taking the history and the future of the platform to the very people who could well be the next generation of producers, DJs, technology innovators or simply advocates of the sound that is sweeping the continent after 20 years of trying. The tour, called CNTRL: BEYOND EDM - ELECTRONIC & TECHNO(LOGY) BASED MUSIC will be a groundbreaking North American college tour combining educational daytime lectures on music technology. The panel will bring together major players in the North American scene including the promoter Carlos Correal from Insomniac Events behind Electric Daisy Carnival and Beyond Wonderland – who have given Hawtin a platform to push the underground sounds via his ENTER. stages. In addition, we have long-time underground promoter Jason Huvaere from the Paxahau organisation who promote the Movement festival in Detroit and one of the strongest voices in American underground music. Finally, the panel will feature Matthew Adell – chief of the Beatport digital store and consumer platform – and one of the most articulate ambassadors of electronic music worldwide.
