With a host of other projects in the works – including forthcoming releases on Ibiza’s Seamless Recordings and Ultra Records - the demand for Justin’s productions is matched only by the demand for his tight DJ sets. With nearly 14 years experience behind the decks, Justin’s DJing talents routinely take him on tour throughout the United States and to house hot-spots including Taipei, Amsterdam, Romania, Budapest, London and Japan.
Every rapid rise has a beginning and in Justin’s case it began through DJing at underground parties in Los Angeles in the mid 1990s when he was just 15 years old. By the time he was 18, Justin had established himself as one of the most promising DJs in Los Angeles and, later progressing to production, firmly cemented his name amongst the global house music scene’s elite. His discography reads like that of a producer who is intimately connected with the globe’s premier artists and labels. Since making his production debut in 2004, Justin has released on some of the world’s most celebrated imprints and enjoyed both critical and commercial acclaim in the process.
DJ Roog and brother Greg Van Bueren’s Hardsoul Pressings, DJ Spen & Defected’s Code Red Recordings, Kaskade’s Quiet City, Richard Earnshaw’s Duffnote Recordings, Jask’s Thaisoul Music, Look At You, Delecto, MoD, Pesto & Clubstar have all released Justin’s original productions and remixes, as has Las Vegas-based Swank Recordings, on which he released his critically-acclaimed debut LP ‘Everything’ in 2007. The aptly-named album reflected Justin’s love of all musical styles ranging from Rock to Pop to Hip Hop, Soul and R&B, and featured an impressive array of collaborators including Jason Lent, Gina Rene and Donnie Romello.
Remixes of Kaskade’s ‘In This Life’ and ‘Sometimes’ and his remix of Grammy-nominated Jay-J’s ‘Groove It To The Rhythm’ – all released on Ultra - have further demonstrated Justin’s ability to produce and remix tracks which retain both underground credibility and commercially accessibility. His single ‘Funky Love’ is the perfect example: the vocal gem featuring Jackie Wilson spent a massive 16 weeks in the Billboard Dance Chart Top 20 following its release in 2005.
It has been home-grown releases on his own burgeoning Hermosa Recordings imprint that have really set tongues wagging in recent years, and proven Justin is equally comfortable with his A&R hat on as he is behind the decks. Since launching in 2005 the label has showcased upfront bombs from some of music’s most established names alongside emerging talents, and in doing so expanded Justin’s reach internationally.
As the northern summer heats up, the exclusive Ultra artist now sits alongside world-famous dance artists including David Guetta, Kaskade, Deadmau5, Armin Van Helden, Axwell, Eric Prydz, Roger Sanchez, Fredde Le Grand, Tiesto and Paul Van Dyke as one of music’s most in demand personalities.
